This is an astonishingly dynamic marketplace. within which there is an increasing tendency to shorten product lifecycles. There may be a requirement for optional graphics, a hard disk, Ethernet, Firewire, or other elements indicative of computer technology, however, reliablility and low cost remain as prime motivators.

The variety of available interfaces and protocols is staggering so it is hardly surprising that confusion exists over which to implement. Composite video, Component video, S-video, RGB, DVI, SACD, numerous surround sound formats, Havic, HomeRf, Bluetooth, wireless IEEE 802.11x, bidirectional IR, Firewire, USB, UPnP and many more must be seriously considered when a new project is in planning.

However that is not all, copy protection and watermarking issues strongly determine how and if a product has a chance to become succesful in this market whilst maintaining Intellectual Property security.
